The Travel Berkey Water Filter
The compact Travel Berkey water filter is the perfect system for small homes and apartments, for use during travel (fits in most suitcases), and for any outdoor activities or during unexpected emergencies.
We constructed the Travel Berkey of highly polished 304 stainless steel complete with two Black Berkey purification elements, 2 chambers, lid, spigot, and a rubber gasket to protect the base. This system is a great size for 1-3 people and for those who do not have much counter space, like small homes and apartments.
More About The Travel Berkey
Using the black berkey filters, this powerful Berkey water filter purifies both treated water and untreated raw water from such sources as remote lakes, streams, stagnant ponds and water supplies in foreign countries, where regulations may be substandard at best. The Travel Berkey is perfect for outdoor activities and a must in hostile environments where electricity, water pressure or treated water may not be available.
While this may be the smallest system in the Berkey line-up, it is just as effective and proficient as it's older siblings. This system removes pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites entirely and extracts harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, chlorine, organic solvents, radon 222 and trihalomethanes. It also reduces nitrates, nitrites and heavy metals such as lead and mercury. This system is so powerful it can remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system can duplicate this performance.
- Max Filtration Flow Rate: Configured with 2 Black Berkey Purification Elements, the Travel Berkey will purify up to 2.5 Gallons (9.5 liters) per hour.
- Fluoride Removal: Up to 2 PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Filters may be installed in the lower chamber of this system if desired.
- Comes standard: with 2 Black Berkey Filters, Spigot, Lid, Washers, Nuts, and Rubber Gasket

fast ship. Review by kevin
Rating Just got this on the thursday the 14 of February. Packed well, no dents. Easy set up. Followed all instructions. Filled it up, woke up to a gallon of water on the floor. Seal on spigot leaked all night. Filled again , leaked out again, read a post about soaking the beveled seal in olive oil. Seems to have worked.i have owned distillers and many types of other filters, all took elbow grease, fire, electricity. This one takes nothing, i like that. Good price and fast shipping, reliable so far. Plus i was tired of lugging 4 five gallon containers of bought bottled water home on my bike cart. This was a no brainer, wondered what took me so long. Thanks berkey. (Posted on 2/16/13)

What water should taste like Review by Tina
Rating I moved to PA, and the chlorine smell coming out of the tap was very strong; it also tasted acky bad. No wonder people drink all that flavored, sugared up stuff when this is what they think water tastes like. NO! I installed a Berkey with additional fluoride and arsenic filters and the water I get now is pure and sweet. Better than fizzy chemicals that are popularly known as soda. It's a very good thing to do no matter the size of your family. (Posted on 1/30/13)

good find Review by William
Rating I stumbled upon the berkey last month when researching the fluoride they put in public water. I'm a holistic practitioner and do NOT recommend ingesting any chemicals into the body if one can help it. I'm loving my travel berkey (with the fluoride filters) and letting all my clients in my fluoridated town know about it. Thanks for such a wonderful product! (Posted on 12/24/12)

A no brainer Review by Ryan
Rating Not much else to say. I live by myself and I wanted a filter system that is cheap but will last me a long time. Plus, as a Marine abroad I've experienced first hand the high value potable water has in an emergency. This was a no brainer indeed. (Posted on 9/12/12)

My Travel Berkey Impression Review by Megan Stevens
Rating I wish I had gone larger. There's 4 of us in the family (2 little ones) and I have to fill it every day. It'd be nice if the sight glass spigot came standard because with all the water we drink I have to keep a close on it to make sure it doesn't run out. (Posted on 6/21/12)

Another Great Experience Review by Alison Ceravelli
Rating This is my 3rd berkey system purchase which I wanted for my summer cabin. I\'ve never written an online review, but given the amount of time the phone reps have spent with me answering my (sometimes goofy) questions and pointing me to helpful articles on the site, I felt like I owed them a good review. The berkey water filters and the customer help that I\'ve gotten with each purchase has exceeded all my expectations. This is how an internet buying experience should be! (Posted on 6/21/11)

Great for 2 Review by Catherine Gibbons
Rating My husband's an ER doctor and the hospital he works at has the 4 gallon system I believe. He convinced me that we should get one for our home and I'm glad we did! The water tastes fresh (which is long overdue) and it's enough water to get us through the day. (Posted on 4/3/10)

Questions on Travel Berkey
- From Anonymous at 8/28/12 10:50 AM
- I've had my travel berky for about six months and I love it. I had two black filters and two fluoride filters on it. I've basically been getting 100% of my water from it since I've bought it. When do I need to replace the filters?
-Regards - Hi Anonymous -
The black berkeys will last for approx 6000 gallons per set of 2, so you can probably go for at least 5 years before starting to test them with the red food coloring test to ensure they are still properly filtering for you. The PF-2 filters on the other hand must be replaced every 1000 gallons or 2 years whichever comes first. To estimate this number, simply monitor how many times per week you are re-filling the system and extrapolate your gallon usage from there. i.e. If you fill the system up 7 times per week, at 1.5 gallons each fill (travel berkey size), you are using approx 10 gallons per week.... or 520 gallons per year, etc.
Thanks

- I like my water cold. Is there one that would fit in the fridge?
- Hi Tonya -
If you have the room, we know many customers put the travel berkey in their fridge. ou can also put the filtered water in a jug and then store that in your fridge as an alternative.
Thanks

- What is involved in installing a shower filter. I live in a high-rise condo?
- Hi Judy -
You would just install the filter in between the pipe coming out of your wall and your existing shower head. It screws onto the pipe and can easily be removed once you move out.
Thanks

- From Marilyn at 4/10/13 7:24 PM
- My son will soon be moving to Montana next to a national forest. Until he gets a well put in, he hopes to use water from a spring for drinking. I am concerned it may not be too safe. He plans to make his home there so will need clean drinking water for immediate and long term. What would you recommend for one person? He will be leaving in two weeks so would like to have something dependable to send with him.
- Hi Marilyn -
I would recommend the travel berkey that comes with these 2 black berkey filters standard. This should be small enough for his home, but provide him enough water throughout the day for drinking and any cooking. You also may want to get him a sport bottle so he can purify the spring water on the go while he's hiking in the forest.
Thanks
