Need to Drink More Water? There's an App for That!

Most of us are aware of the need to drink plenty of water to keep the cells of our body properly hydrated. Water is a vital component of all living cells, and plays an important role is distributing vitamins and minerals throughout the body. By doing so we keep our skin soft and supple, improve our overall health and vitality, and prevent dehydration. However, we are often so busy getting on with life that we forget to drink sufficient quantities of water throughout the day, drinking only when our bodies tell us that we are thirsty, by which time, our body is already dehydrated.

Water Habit, a handy app developed by Pavlos Dimitriou for Apple devices (iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad) is a nifty piece of software that can be downloaded onto your Apple device to help you increase your water consumption to healthier levels.

Importance of Proper Hydration

“Many people think that they should only drink water when they’re thirsty, but that’s a misunderstanding,” commented Pavlos Dimitriou. “By then, they’re already dehydrated. It’s much better to drink water throughout the day, and the easy way to do that is with help from Water Habit!”

Water Habit allows users to input:

1. The number of glasses of water they wish to consume every day

2. What time of the morning they would like to drink their first glass of water

3. What time of the evening they would like to drink their last glass of water

The app then calculates when the user is next due to drink a glass of water in order to maintain the bodies hydration at optimal levels.

Easy to Use

Water Habit is simple to set up and easy to operate. When it is time for the user to have a drink of water the app sends a reminder to the user's phone alerting them that it's time to drink up. If the user drinks a glass of water they can press the ''drink'' button, alternatively, if they choose not to drink a glass of water at that time, they can press the ''skip'' button. The app automatically keeps track of how many glasses of water have been consumed, and how many glasses the user still needs to drink before the end of the day. Users can also keep tabs of their daily, weekly and monthly water consumption rates, which enables them to develop a healthy water drinking habit that will ensure improved health and vitality in the future ahead.
