I started this company in 2008 with a simple belief.

The foundation of a healthy life starts with the quality of the water you drink.

Over time, we’ve seen growing attention on food and supplements, but water is still often overlooked, even as it has become more complex.

That is why I built this business differently.

We made a deliberate decision not to sell on Amazon or Walmart, and it comes down to two things: counterfeits and customer protection.

Both platforms have a documented counterfeit problem in the water filter category. Fake Berkey systems and filter elements have been listed and sold by unknown third parties using the Berkey name. Not every listing is a counterfeit, but the problem is that it is genuinely difficult to tell. These products look similar, carry no verified certifications, and are not manufactured to any documented standard. Most buyers have no idea they received a fake until something goes wrong.

Many "Berkey" listings on Amazon and Walmart are being sold by unknown sellers, not by an authorized dealer. The manufacturer does not warranty products purchased through unauthorized dealers or sellers, which means buyers who go that route are on their own if there is a problem. We go into more detail in this article.
