Destroyer KDF Shower Filter
Reduces chlorine in your shower, hot or cold
Genuine KDF 55 media • White finish • Fits any standard shower arm • Made in the USA
Your Berkey Covers Drinking Water. This Covers Your Shower.
The Destroyer reduces chlorine in your shower water with genuine KDF 55 media, so showers lose that pool smell and feel easier on your skin and hair.
It installs between your shower arm and your existing shower head in a few minutes, with no plumber and no tools beyond the Teflon tape in the box.
It matters more than most people think. Hot showers turn some chlorine into vapor you breathe in, so your shower is part of your daily chlorine exposure.
Key Benefits
Up to 99% Less Chlorine
No more pool smell in the shower, and less of the dry, tight feeling afterward.
Softer Skin and Hair
Less chlorine means less dryness and irritation. Owners tell us their hair feels softer within days.
Built for Hot Water
KDF media keeps working in hot showers, where carbon-only filters lose ground.
Save on Every Refill
Keep the housing and just replace the cartridge. It costs far less than a new filter and keeps plastic out of the trash.
What It Reduces
Chlorine
Up to 99% reduction, the main reason to filter your shower.
Heavy Metals
Lead, mercury, copper, arsenic and cadmium.
Made with 100% loose-grain KDF 55 media. Not designed to reduce chloramine.

Installs in Minutes
Fits any standard 1/2 inch shower arm. Teflon tape is included.
- Unscrew your shower head and clean the old tape off the shower arm
- Wrap the included Teflon tape around the threads 2 to 3 times
- Screw the filter onto the arm, then your shower head onto the filter
- Run the water about 20 seconds to flush. Slight graying at first is normal
Buy the Filter Once, Then Just Refill
After that, you only buy the Destroyer refill cartridge, not a whole new filter. Chrome, white and black all use the same cartridge.
- Lower cost on every refill after the first
- Less waste, since the housing stays on your shower
- Replace the cartridge every 6 to 12 months or 22,500 gallons, whichever comes first
- Swaps in by hand in a minute, mesh screen side up
Shower Filter Questions
Why do I need a shower filter if I have a Berkey?
Your Berkey filters the water you drink. Your shower runs straight tap water over your skin and hair, chlorine included. The Destroyer covers that side of your water.
Does it come with a shower head?
No. It installs between your shower arm and your existing shower head. You get the filter with a cartridge installed, plus Teflon tape.
How often do I replace the cartridge?
Every 6 to 12 months or 22,500 gallons, whichever comes first. One person showering daily can expect about a year. Two or more people, sediment, older plumbing, higher chlorine levels or heavy mineral content shorten that, and some homes need a fresh cartridge closer to 6 to 9 months.
Does it reduce fluoride?
No. Fluoride is very hard to reduce at shower flow rates, so be wary of shower filters that claim it.
Does it reduce chloramine?
No. The Destroyer uses 100% KDF 55, which reduces free chlorine and heavy metals but not chloramine. If your water utility treats with chloramine, this filter is not the right fit for that.
Will it lower my water pressure?
It shouldn't. It flows up to 1.8 gallons per minute, the standard for most shower heads.
Will it fit my shower?
It fits any standard 1/2 inch shower arm, including handheld shower heads with a standard fitting. It also works with softened water.
