The Imperial Berkey holds up to 6 PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic filters in the lower chamber, one for each element above. They thread onto the bottom of your elements and reduce fluoride from treated municipal or well water. Each pair is rated for 1,000 gallons or 1 year, whichever comes first.

Should I buy the Royal Berkey or the Imperial Berkey?
The Royal holds 3.25 gallons and suits 2 to 6 people. The Imperial holds 4.5 gallons and suits 3 to 8. For a household of 5 or more, or if you cook with filtered water every day, choose the Imperial. At 26 inches tall, plan a spot with no upper cabinets above it.
Which filter elements come with it?
The Imperial Berkey comes with 2 Black Berkey elements and holds up to 6. When it is time to replace them, Berkey Phoenix elements are a direct drop-in. Black Berkey elements are currently unavailable for individual purchase due to an EPA regulatory matter.
How long do the filters last, and what do replacements cost?
A pair of Black Berkey elements is rated for 6,000 gallons. A pair of Berkey Phoenix replacement elements is $120 and rated for 5,500 gallons, which works out to about 2 cents per gallon. Running 4 or 6 elements multiplies the gallons before replacement.
Does the Imperial Berkey reduce fluoride?
Fluoride reduction requires the optional PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic filters, which are not included. The Imperial holds up to 6 PF-2 filters in the lower chamber, one for each element above. A pair is $103 and rated for 1,000 gallons or 1 year, whichever comes first.
