Staph Control
Staph Control™ is a colorless and odorless disinifectant/fungicide/virucide used to kill potentially dangerous organisms such as Salmonella choleraesuis, HIV type 1-strain HTLV IIIB and Staphylococcous aureus (multiple strains of staph including MRSA). Among the many benefits of this product, unlike any other product on the market today, Staph Control™ is safe to use around people and pets with no rinsing or wiping down after application.
Category IV EPA rated non-toxic green product! 2 minute kill time with 24 hour residual efficacy!
What is Silver Dihydrogen Citrate (SDC)?
SDC (Silver Dihydrogen Citrate) is a compound that was in development for nearly ten years. How it works is through the generation of silver ions as the product of the disassociation of the weak organic acid (citric acid), contained in SDC, binding to particular active sites on microbial proteins where those sites contain thio groups. Once SDC is introduced to the microbial environment it functions the following two ways; when the silver ions bind to the microbial cell membrane proteins' active sites (thio groups), the microbial membrane malfunctions allowing more silver ions inside the microbial organism. The microorganism dies due to cell lysis and/or cessation of metabolic function membrane proteins. When the silver ions enter the microorganism through the malfunctioned cell membrane or as an essential nutrient since the microorganism needs citric acid for cell activities, the silver then starts to unfold the microbes' DNA strands rendering it dysfunctional. This stops metabolic and reproductive functions and the microbe will then die. The toxicity rating of this SDC based solution is non-toxic, non-caustic, colorless, odorless, and tasteless and does not produce toxic fumes. While SDC is highly toxic to bacteria, fungus and viruses, it is non-toxic to humans and animals. Based on the EPA toxicity categorization of antimicrobial products, there are categories that range from Category I down to Category IV. Silver Dihydrogen Citrate is rated in the lowest toxicity Category IV while traditional disinfectants fall into Categories I & II. SDC is a stabilized silver ion complex with a shelf life of several years. There are other silver based disinfectants, but their shelf life is much sorter. The form of silver in SDC allows the ionized silver to remain in solution which makes it biologically active for antimicrobial action. One of the most important functions of this product is the 24 hour residual effectiveness which most common household and industrial sanitizing solutions may not possess. Most products on the market take up to ten minutes to kill these harmful bacteria, but Staph Control takes less than 2 minutes to disinfect and does not require rinsing which is especially remarkable since the active ingredient in this solution is environmentally green where the manufacturing process produces zero discharge and no waste or byproducts.
