What Black Berkey Filters Remove
Black Berkey Elements remove over 200 contaminants at industry-leading reduction rates
When fitted with authentic Black Berkey elements, this system is so powerful it can remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system can duplicate this performance.
How the Big Berkey Water Filter Works
The Big Berkey Water Filter system is constructed of highly polished 304 stainless steel and comes complete with 2 Black Berkey filtration elements (expandable to 4), 2 chambers (upper and lower), a lid, a nylon spigot (can be upgraded to a stainless steel spigot, sight glass spigot, or stainless waterview spigot), a rubber gasket base, and 2 blocking plugs. The system also includes a Primerite Kit, an anti-airlock clip, and red food dye for testing.
The Big Berkey Water Filter can treat any water source—well water, tap water, or untreated water in regions where water quality may be questionable. It's perfect for everyday home kitchen use, outdoor activities, and essential for providing drinking water where electricity or water pressure may not be available.
If you're concerned about arsenic and/or fluoride in your drinking water, you can install a set of 2 Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic filters into the lower chamber as an optional add-on.
Flow Rate & Fluoride Removal
Max Filtration Flow Rate:
- With 2 Black Berkey Elements: Up to 3.5 gallons per hour
- With 4 Black Berkey Elements: Up to 7 gallons per hour
Fluoride Removal: Up to 4 PF-2 fluoride and arsenic reduction filters may be installed in the lower chamber if desired. With the optional PF-2 filters, you're no longer at the mercy of town water fluoridation practices.
Which Berkey System Should I Choose?
Compare capacity, dimensions, and flow rates to find the perfect size for your household
| Feature | Travel Berkey | Big Berkey | Royal Berkey |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 1.5 gallons | 2.25 gallons | 3.25 gallons |
| Serves | 1-3 people | 1-4 people | 2-6 people |
| Height | 18" | 21" | 23" |
| Diameter | 7.5" | 8.5" | 9.5" |
| Max Flow Rate (4 filters) | 4 GPH | 7 GPH | 8 GPH |
The smaller Travel Berkey has a smaller footprint and takes up less counter space, making it ideal if you have space constraints. The larger Royal Berkey is suitable for larger families. The choice ultimately depends on your household size and daily water needs.
