How Two-Stage Filtration Works
🔄 Two-Stage Filtration Process
Water moves through both stages by gravity. No power, no plumbing, no pressure required. This applies to both Black Berkey and Phoenix elements paired with PF-2 filters.
- Stage 1, Upper Chamber. Water enters through the upper chamber filter elements, where it passes through the proprietary filtration media. This is where the majority of contaminant reduction happens, including heavy metals, PFAS, pharmaceuticals, and chlorine.
- Stage 2, Lower Chamber. Pre-filtered water exits the upper elements and flows into the PF-2 filters attached to the base of each element. This stage targets fluoride and provides additional arsenic reduction.
- Final Output. Filtered water collects in the lower chamber, ready to dispense from the spigot. Both stages working together deliver broader contaminant reduction than either filter alone.
