New Berkey Price Increases Effective July 1st, 2021

New Berkey Price Increases Effective July 1st, 2021

By Dan DeBaun

Due to the cost increases of raw materials, labor, and logistics, we are out of necessity increasing prices on the majority of Berkey products by 10% to 20%. This will include filter replacements, systems, and most accessories.

We have kept the prices on our products down for many years (2nd price increase in 15 years), but supply chain disruptions and persistant inflation is forcing the company to make this tough decision.

Many companies will decrease the quality of their products to account for costs increases, but we know with Berkey that is not an option. So rest assured that Berkey will still be maintaining their high level of quality and performance by contining to use the best in raw materials.

If you were planning on purchasing replacement filters or a new system in the near term, we advise doing so before July 1st.

Thanks

I did the math of the Berkey filters.with our family of 4 our filters only last about 6 months. We went to order more filters but it’s almost $200!! That’s about 30-35 a month just for water. We decided for now to go with another filter system but plan to return when filters are more affordable option for us.

    Hi Tia -

Are you sure you're calculating the gallons correctly. The black berkeys are good for approx 6000 gallons per set of 2. For replacement at 6 months, you would need to be using over 30 gallons a day. Average for our customers is typically 2 gallons.

    Thanks

    I thought stainless didn't rust????

    Hi Laurie -

All stainless will rust as some point, especially if the water has a higher sodium content. Throw stainless steel in the ocean, and see what happens very quickly. With that being said, rust can be cleaned off the steel if it occurs, and can be brought back to it's original stainless condition.

    Thanks

Several months back, I contacted Berkey to explain, that my original Berkey had rust inside, at the spigot area, and some girls in your office, told me that was normal. They informed me, it couldn't be replaced unless I had the original receipt.. Because I felt put down, I no longer responded Dan, even tho I had done business before with you personally, and you had given me a special code of NN10.. Now I see you're prices have risen..
God bless you in your business,
    Nancy Kelly

    Hi Nancy -

Rust is normal and can happen to systems. What our reps should have also said is that this rust can easily be removed and cleaned off using a rust cleaner such as bar keepers rust remover. You would then follow up with a rinsing of soap and water and then your system would be good to go again!

    Thanks
